What do you need to know before taking Auto cad?

I am taking Auto Cad and struggling trying take in everything. I have No drafting or drawing background. I was told you didn't need it. My job but in this cl for an apprentiship program. I didn't know anything prior to being placed in this cl. does anyone have info on auto cad and what you need to know before you take an auto cad course.
